How Palmetto plays
The longer of the two Myrtlewood courses and a genuine test from the tips, though wide, pine lined fairways and multiple tee sets give everyone room to swing. Edmund Ault defended it with strategic bunkering rather than forced carries, and several holes run right beside the Intracoastal Waterway.
- The Intracoastal WaterwayA run of holes along the water that gives Palmetto its character and its best views. The mile marker beside one bunker is a favorite photo stop.
- Length from the tipsMore than 7,000 yards from the back markers, with par 5s that reward a long, straight drive.
- Strategic sandBunkers set to shape the hole rather than to punish, so there is almost always a safe line if you look for it.
- The 18thA long par 4 beside the Waterway with an approach over water to finish. The signature hole.
